Dodgeball in Brisbane: what to expect
Dodgeball is the school-hall classic all grown up: six a side, foam balls, and games short enough that every set feels like a final. It's the most beginner friendly sport we could possibly run, because everyone already knows how to play. Throw, catch, dodge, repeat. Social dodgeball comps are pure fun with just enough strategy to argue about afterwards, and no fitness prerequisite beyond a willingness to flinch dramatically.
How SportUP dodgeball comps will work
When dodgeball launches in Brisbane, it'll run like every SportUP comp: one night a week, short seasons, refs and gear sorted, tunes on, and a ladder that matters just enough. Book as a team or join solo and we'll find you one. We already run social comps at 29 venues across Brisbane, from the CBD out to the suburbs. The first dodgeball venue will land wherever the waitlist is strongest, so get your side of town signed up.
And every comp is backed by our Pinky Promise. If you don't absolutely love your first game, we'll find you a better fit, cover your next game free, or give your money back.
Dodgeball Brisbane FAQs
When will dodgeball start in Brisbane?
As soon as the waitlist is big enough to fill a first season, usually 6 to 8 teams' worth of players. Every signup genuinely moves it forward, and waitlist members hear first, before we announce it anywhere else.
Do I need a team to play dodgeball in Brisbane?
No. Join the waitlist solo, and when we launch you can book as an individual and we'll place you in a team. Plenty of our current players started exactly that way.
What are the dodgeball rules?
Six a side with foam balls, so it stings your pride at most. Get hit, you're out. Your teammate catches a ball on the full, you're back in. Games run a few minutes each, best of many sets, so one bad round never matters.
Is dodgeball safe to play?
Yes. Competition dodgeballs are foam, not the red rubber ones from your childhood nightmares. Refs keep headshots and arguments in check.
How much will dodgeball cost?
Pricing is locked in at launch, but SportUP comps usually work out around the cost of a takeaway meal per game, with refs, venue and gear included. The waitlist gets pricing and first pick of spots before anyone else.
Where in Brisbane will dodgeball be played?
We already run social comps at 29 venues across Brisbane, from the CBD out to the suburbs. The first dodgeball venue will land wherever the waitlist is strongest, so get your side of town signed up.
Can't wait that long?
Fair enough. We already run netball, basketball, soccer and volleyball comps every week in Brisbane. Solo or with a team, there's a spot if you want one.
