SPORTUP PRIVACY POLICY

SportUP Pty Ltd (“SportUP”, “we”, “our”, “us”) operates adult-only social sporting competitions across Queensland. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to this website, the SportUP App, our booking pages and everything we do at our venues.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy sits alongside section 7 of our Terms & Conditions. Where the two overlap, they are intended to say the same thing.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to run competitions safely.
1.1 Information you give us
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, suburb or postcode
- Registration details: sport, venue and division preferences, team name, experience level
- Emergency and safety information you choose to provide
- Payment details, collected and processed by our payment processor (we do not store full card numbers)
- The content of messages you send within the SportUP App, for safety, moderation and competition management
- Anything you tell us by email, phone, SMS or social media
1.2 Information we collect automatically
- Attendance and participation data, including results and fixtures
- Photos and videos taken at venues and events
- Device and usage data when you visit this website: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and advertising click identifiers
You do not have to identify yourself for general browsing, but we cannot process a registration or booking anonymously.

- Running competitions, fixtures, teams and venues
- Safety and incident response
- Communicating with you about your season, games, wet weather and renewals
- Providing SportUP App functionality
- Taking payments and issuing invoices and refunds
- Improving this website and our competitions
- Marketing our competitions to you, which you can opt out of at any time
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising. The tools we use are:
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (Google LLC): how people find and move through the site
- Google Ads (Google LLC): measuring which ads lead to bookings, and showing ads to people who have visited the site
- Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.): measuring Facebook and Instagram advertising, and showing ads to people who have visited the site
- Plausible Analytics: privacy-focused page statistics
Where you arrive from an ad, we store the advertising click identifier in your browser so we can tell which ad led to a booking. It is kept for up to 90 days.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through Google My Ad Center and your Facebook or Instagram ad settings. Blocking cookies will not stop you registering or playing.
4. Who We Share Information With
We share personal information only where it is needed to run the competition or where the law requires it. That includes:
- Referees, venue staff and venue operators
- Your team captain and teammates, for the team you are registered in
- Our IT, app, messaging, email and website platforms
- Payment processors
- Advertising and analytics providers, as described in section 3
- Emergency services, insurers and medical providers where there is a safety need
- Government agencies, regulators or courts where the law requires it
Some of these providers store data overseas, including in the United States. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. Marketing and How to Opt Out
If you have registered or enquired with us, we may contact you about upcoming seasons, renewals and offers by email and SMS. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, every marketing SMS can be stopped by replying STOP, and you can opt out at any time by emailing team@sportup.com.au. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential messages about a season you are already registered in, such as fixture changes or wet weather notices.
6. Your Rights
You may ask us to:
- Give you access to the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your information, where we are legally permitted to do so
- Stop sending you marketing
Email team@sportup.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are first. There is no charge for making a request.
7. Photos and Videos
We take photos and videos at venues and events and may use them to promote SportUP, including on social media. If you would prefer not to appear, tell the venue staff on the night or email team@sportup.com.au and we will remove you from any image we control.
8. Security and Retention
Your information is stored securely and access is limited to the people who need it. We retain personal information only as long as it is needed for operations, safety and our legal obligations, and then delete or de-identify it. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored on our systems.
9. Children
SportUP competitions are strictly for players aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email team@sportup.com.au with the details and we will investigate and respond to you. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our competitions and systems change. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be notified on this page.
